RPI Vision, Mission and Values

Vision

A world where restorative practice is a recognised, respected and resourced approach to transforming relationships and systems through healing harm and advancing social justice and collective healing.

Mission

To support and connect restorative practitioners around the world by:

  1. Fostering meaningful connections across countries, cultures and disciplines;
  2. Nurturing a deep sense of belonging in an emerging field;
  3. Supporting collective integrity through credible knowledge systems, wisdom practices and values-led governance;
  4. Supporting growth and mutual learning through shared relational practice, reflective dialogue and international gatherings.

Our Values

Our community is held together through the following values:

1. Connection – We are stronger together.

  • We create and cultivate intentional and meaningful spaces for dialogue, relationship building and community that transcend borders, disciplines and difference.
  • We honour the knowledge, stories and lived experiences of practitioners at every stage of their journey, recognising that wisdom is shared, not held or owned.
  • We build partnerships that are respectful, generative and mutually supportive, believing that sustainable change is rooted in collaboration.
  • We centre practices that restore wellbeing, dignity and trust; walking alongside individuals, groups, organisations and systems toward healing and wholeness.

2. Belonging – We are not alone in this work.

  • We foster inclusive communities that welcome complexity, uphold dignity and nurture shared purpose.
  • We hold space for difference, ensuring communities are culturally safe, responsive and grounded in respect for Indigenous sovereignty and diverse worldviews.
  • We recognise the isolation that can come with working in an emerging field and offer solidarity, encouragement and companionship over perfection.
  • We meet each other with curiosity and compassion, honouring the lived experience and identity of every person we serve.
  • We challenge systems of exclusion and elevate equity as a collective responsibility.

3. Integrity – We walk with integrity and professionalism.

  • We uplift our field and members through ethical, value-aligned practice and shared credibility.
  • We provide professional affiliation rooted in cultural humility, restorative values and ethical governance.
  • We uphold the dignity of the profession, affirming restorative practice as a credible, evidence-informed field.
  • We recognise our members as thought leaders and contributors to a global movement of relational and systemic change.
  • We align our actions with our words in leadership, relationship and practice.

4. Growth – We are always learning.

  • We stay open to what is emerging, nurturing both the practice and the practitioner.
  • We create spaces for professional and personal development that are grounded, relational and responsive to evolving needs of our members and the field.
  • We embrace critical reflection, creativity and feedback as part of living practice.
  • We promote learning that is experiential, centred in knowledge systems and wisdom practices, and transformational.
  • We create opportunities that nourish the whole person—not just outcomes—because growth happens through community, dialogue and shared experience.
