About Restorative Practices InternationalPURPOSE |
Who are Restorative Practices International?Restorative Practices International (RPI) is a world-wide association for restorative practitioners. We are an independent professional membership body designed to support practitioners working in diverse areas of Restorative Practices and related fields. Formed by practitioners for practitioners, we are adamant that we have a lot to learn from one another and that our work will be stronger as a result. |
Strong, healthy relationships in and between all our communities.
Restorative Practices International exists to promote the development of, and to nurture the repair of quality relationships between and within our communities.
HISTORY
In 2004, at the IIRP Vancouver conference, a ground swell of interested people and practitioners started to talk about the need to strengthen connections within the restorative community. This was even more evident at the 2005 IIRP International Conference in Australia where almost 100 people attended a meeting to discuss the possibility of developing an association. By 2007 the Australasian Restorative Justice Association had been formed, and held our first international conference on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. In 2009, our inaugural Restorative Practices International Board was formalised and the organisation was officially constituted in Australia as a not-for profit company (Restorative Practices International) limited by guarantee. This reflected our global membership and reach. Since that time, many successful forums and events have been held and the Board has continued to grow and evolve whilst maintaining the spirit of the association. THE LEADERSHIP TEAMThe Inaugural RPI Board took office on 23 February 2009 when RPI was officially constituted as a not-for profit company limited by guarantee. The current Board, elected at the 2019 Annual General Meeting, brings together RPI members from across Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. The Board can be contacted via email below. |
